Performance of Philippine Top Non-Traditional Coconut Products Exports in May 2025 (Part 2)

The following shows details of the next seven major non-traditional coconut products exports in May (ranked 11th-17th) namely Coconut Meat Chips, Fatty Acid Distillates, Nata de Coco, Coco Peat/Dust, Makapuno, Coir & Coir Products, and Dried Mature Coconut Meat

COCONUT MEAT CHIPS earned of USD553,721 from shipment of 138 MT.  Volume posted a shortfall of 57.0% from 322 MT last year.  There were three destinations reported, led by the USA which captured 64.5% or 89 MT.  Trailing behind were South Korea at 26 MT (18.5%), and Australia at 23 MT (17.0%). 

Turnover from FATTY ACID DISTILLATES reached USD514,784 from sales of 610 MT.  This month’s load showed a marked contraction by 80.1% from 3,062 MT shipped out last year.  China was the sole market of said commodity during the month.

NATA DE COCO turned in USD300,920, the value of 308 MT shipment which was 25.2% below last year’s 411 MT. Japan fortified its hold of the top position in this field with uptake of 203 MT or two-thirds of the pack (66.0%).  Other markets were USA at 68 MT (22.0%), Canada at 19 MT (6.3%), New Zealand at 8 MT, United Arab Emirates 4 MT, Netherlands 3 MT, Italy 2 MT, and Australia 0.45 MT.

Export of COCO PEAT/DUST amounting to 4,489 MT was more than twice last year’s 2,191 MT (+104.9%).  This was worth USD290,663. China captured almost all deliveries, responsible for 4,444 MT (99.0%).  The rest went to Malaysia at 45 MT. 

MAKAPUNO export at 111 MT registered proceeds of USD224,195.  Traded volume dwarfed last year’s 54 MT by 104.1%.  North America remained its major market with the USA cornering 63 MT (56.9%) and Canada 31 MT (27.9%).  Smaller orders were made by Netherlands at 8 MT (7.0%), United Arab Emirates at 6 MT (5.7%), and Australia at 3 MT (2.4%). 

COIR & COIR PRODUCTS reported income of USD153,264.  Total volume sold at 799 MT posted at 20.3% deficit from last year at 1,002 MT.  China was almost an exclusive buyer cornering 728 MT or 91.1% of the pack. The remainder went to the USA at 63 MT (7.8%) and Japan at 8 MT (1.0%).

DRIED MATURE COCONUT MEAT (in chips, ground, grated or sliced) other than desiccated coconut recorded revenue of USD133,006 after trading 244 MT (no export last year). China was bulk buyer of the product responsible for 210 MT (86.0%).  The balance of 34 MT (14.0%) went to South Korea.
