Shipment of desiccated coconut in May at 13,070 MT earned USD39.110 million, rocketing 67.2% from last year at USD23.395 million.  There were 42 countries that imported the commodity during the month which was led at this time by the Netherlands with volume of 2,867 MT or 21.9% of total.  The USA, which used to lead the pack, took the second slot at 1,652 MT (12.6%), trailed by Germany at 1,132 MT (8.7%).  

Following the top three were five countries which collectively accounted for 25.9% of the market: China at 811 MT, Russia 801 MT, Australia 704 MT, Brazil 536 MT, and Canada 529 MT.  Seven other country importers with orders ranging 200-471 MT jointly accounted for 17.3% namely Turkey, France, United Kingdom, Japan, Egypt, Colombia, Indonesia.  Smaller quantities ranging 105-196 MT went to seven others with combined participation of 7.6%: Chile, South Africa, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Lithuania.

Meanwhile, 20 countries with uptake under 100 MT (0.61-98 MT range) contributed 6% total trade.  This included Spain, Costa Rica, Israel, Argentina, Sweden, Taiwan, Belgium, Netherlands Antilles, Norway, Guatemala, Poland, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Latvia, Estonia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Mexico, Singapore, United Arab Emirates.
