Coconut shell charcoal export in June at 12,654 MT generated USD8.586 million, besting last year at USD7.611 million (+12.8%) exclusively driven by high border price. Bulk of the total was delivered to China at 9,647 MT (76.2%). Other major buyers were Japan at 1,313 MT (10.4%) and India at 1,258 MT (9.9%). Limited quantities went to Sri Lanka at 225 MT, South Korea at 161 MT and Iraq 49 MT.
On the other hand, activated carbon shipment during the same month was 5,800 MT worth USD12.515 million. Earnings more than doubled last year at USD6.198 million (+101.9%), jointly boosted by high volume and traded price. Japan and China were key markets with the former cornering 1,125 MT (19.4%) and China 1,120 MT (19.3%). Other significant destinations were South Korea at 583 MT (10.0%), Germany 452 MT (7.8%), USA 448 MT (7.7%), Sri Lanka 447 MT (7.7%) and Taiwan 431 MT (7.4%). Smaller loads ranging 112-259 MT went to Indonesia, Italy, Ghana, and Belgium; market share aggregated 10.3%.
Meanwhile, 14 other countries imported quantities lower than 100 MT (10-92 MT range) and collectively contributed 10.3% to total sales, namely Australia, Estonia, Canada, Sweden, Malaysia, Peru, South Africa, Kenya, Ecuador, Latvia, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic.

Overseas trade of coconut shell charcoal in May which totaled 14,087 MT registered earnings of USD8.934 million, topping by 60.5% last year’s USD5.567 million. China was top buyer cornering 79.0% or 11,133 MT. Other markets were India at 1,265 MT (9.0%), Japan at 795 MT (5.6%), Sri Lanka at 687 MT (4.9%). Limited quantities were delivered to South Korea at 139 MT, Iraq 49 MT and Russia 19 MT.
In the same month, activated carbon export amounting to 5,532 MT reported income of USD10.346 million, higher by 28.6% from the previous year at USD8.043 million. Over a dozen countries imported at least 110 MT, led by Japan with uptake of 1,500 MT (27.1%), trailed by China at 701 MT (12.7%), USA 473 MT (8.5%), South Korea 452 MT (8.2%), Sri Lanka 387 MT (7.0%), Indonesia 364 MT (6.6%) and seven other countries which took in orders ranging 110-243 MT. This included Taiwan, Germany, Ghana, Russia, Peru, Italy and Belgium.
Twelve countries received smaller volume below 100 MT (7-92 MT range) and together had 9.2% participation in the trade. This comprised of South Africa, Estonia, France, Australia, Congo, Switzerland, Sweden, Burundi, Canada, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Singapore.

Friday, October 3, 2025External trade of coconut shell charcoal in April at 15,703 MT reported earnings of USD10.046 million, a leap by 38.9% from the preceding year. Growth was jointly propelled by increased volume and higher border price. Of the traditional exports, only coconut shell charcoal showed improved volume.
China was top buyer cornering 13,115 MT or 83.5% of total, trailed by Japan at 1,830 MT (11.7%). Other destinations were India at 491 MT, Jordan 104 MT, Sri Lanka 125 MT, USA 38 MT.
Export of activated carbon in the same month at 4,529 MT registered receipts of USD9.219 million, increasing by 7.9% from last year’s revenue. Volume posted a flat growth while export price rose 8.4%.
The top three markets were Japan at 994 MT (21.9%), China at 723 MT (16.0%), Indonesia at 527 MT (11.6%). The next four destinations had market shares ranging 6.4-9.2% and this included South Korea at 417 MT, Sri Lanka 359 MT, Taiwan 328 MT, USA289 MT, while smaller loads went to Germany 191 MT, Italy 182 MT, and Russia 116 MT.
Meanwhile, volumes lower than 100 MT (0.18-90 MT) was channeled to 11 markets namely Ghana, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Sweden, Peru, Kenya, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia.
