Export Performance of Philippine Top Non-Tradional Coconut Products in March 2025

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed there were 18 non-traditional coconut products that sold over USD100,000 in the month of March this year, one product more than the previous month. However, the number of million-dollar earners was maintained at seven. These included coconut water, coconut oil other, coconut water concentrate, hydrogenated coconut oil, glycerin, toilet/bath soap, and coconut milk liquid.
COCONUT WATER kept its top position in the non-traditional coconut products exports list for the 10th month in a row in March, with turnover of USD11.970 million. The volume at 14,238 MT rocketed to more than 21folds from merely 663 MT in March last year. The USA likewise secured its top position in the market with uptake at 7,928 MT or 55.7% of total, trailed by United Kingdom at 4,019 MT (28.2%) and Canada at 1,407 MT (9.9%). The three market leaders also kept last month’s respective positions. Other markets were Netherlands at 437 MT, France at 127 MT and 11 others which held volume ranging 5-52 MT. The latter group consisted of United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Belgium, Singapore, Kuwait, Oman, Sweden, Japan, Czech Republic.
COCONUT OIL, OTHER category took the second slot having earned USD7.816 million from overseas trade of 3,270 MT, a sharp leap by 382.6% from 678 MT last year. South Korea led the pack of importers cornering 2,400 MT (73.4%). Limited loads went to the USA at 627 MT (19.2%), Japan at 113 MT (3.5%), Canada at 93 MT (2.8%), and Mexico at 37 MT (1.1%).
The other variant of coconut water, the COCONUT WATER CONCENTRATE, held the third spot with revenue of USD5.137 million from external trade of 1,190 MT. Export last year was miniscule at only 0.27 MT. China remained the primary destination of coconut water concentrate responsible for 672 MT (56.5%), followed by the USA at 274 MT (23.0%), Vietnam at 101 MT (8.5%), Thailand at 101 MT (8.5%), Netherlands at 24 MT (2.0%), and Indonesia at 18 MT (1.5%).
HYDROGENATED COCONUT OIL took fourth place with turnover of USD4.368 million after trading 3,401 MT. This month’s shipment increased 43.6% from last year at 2,368 MT. The USA and Australia remained key markets at 1,193 MT (35.1%) and 1,027 MT (30.2%), respectively. Other destinations were Canada at 474 MT (13.9%), Netherlands at 254 MT (7.5%), Taiwan at 161 MT (4.7%), United Kingdom at 157 MT (4.6%), China at 102 MT (3.0%), Qatar at 18 MT, Singapore at 15 MT.
In fifth place was GLYCERIN which turned in USD3.773 million. This month’s delivery of 5,599 MT jumped 329.9% from 1,302 MT last year. China continued as principal market capturing 3,957 MT (70.7%). Other outlets were Japan at 750 MT (13.4%), Thailand at 442 MT (7.9%), India at 204 MT (3.6%), and five others which took delivery of less than 100 MT namely the USA at 94 MT, Malaysia 67 MT, Australia 47 MT, South Korea 37 MT and Vietnam 2 MT.
Landing in the sixth position was TOILET/BATH SOAP with export proceeds of USD1.671 million. This month’s delivery at 672 MT declined by 14.1% from last year of 782 MT. United Arab Emirates was still the market leader with orders amounting to 137 MT (20.3%), followed Singapore at 136 MT (20.%), Vietnam 95 MT (14.1%), Indonesia at 83 MT (12.4%), Togo at 74 MT (11.1%), Thailand at 38 MT (5.6%), Kuwait at 25 MT (3.7%), Saudi Arabia at 23 MT (3.4%), Nigeria at 20 MT (3.0%), Malaysia at 14 MT (2.1%), and 14 others with limited uptakes ranging 0.4-5 MT for a total of 28 MT (4.2%). The latter group consisted of Bahrain, Yemen, Qatar, Netherlands, Macau, Taiwan, Canada, New Zealand, Cyprus, Fiji, South Korea, Israel, Papua New Guinea, Australia.
COCONUT MILK LIQUID registered an income of USD1.211 million and ranked seventh. Overseas purchases at 788 MT climbed 18.8% from 663 MT a year ago. Malaysia was almost the sole importer controlling 99.4% or 783 MT of total. Other markets were United Arab Emirates at 4 MT, and the USA at 1 MT.
COCONUT ACID OIL which generated USD973,708 occupied the eighth place. Volume traded at 989 MT escalated 56.5% from last year at 632 MT. China was almost an exclusive market at 968 MT (97.9%). The remaining 2.1% or 21 MT was absorbed by India.
COCONUT MILK POWDER was ninth in the list with gross export receipts at USD938,725 with sales volume at 178 MT, a substantial improvement by 77.0% from 100 MT last year. Mexico and Japan were top buyers, each importing equal quantities at 46 MT (25.8%), trailed by USA at 44 MT (24.7%), France at 27 MT (15.3%), Australia at 13 MT (7.2%) and Saudi Arabia at 2 MT (1.2%).
Completing the top 10 non-traditional coconut exports was BIODIESEL with earnings of USD865,131, the value of 369 MT shipment. The tonnage was more than twice last year at 152 MT (+143.3%). There were only three importing countries recorded during the month led by South Korea at 276 MT (74.4%). Other markets were Japan at 78 MT (21.1%) and Mexico at 16 MT (4.2%).
The next eight major non-traditional coconut products exports were Nata de Coco, Fatty Acid Distillates, Dried Mature Coconut Meat, Coconut Meat Chips, Makapuno, Coir & Coir Products, Coco Peat Dust, and Young Coconut chips/meat. Details to follow in next issue of UWB.
