Performance of Philippine Top Non-Traditional Coconut Products Exports in December 2024 (Part 2)

The following shows details of the next seven major non-traditional coconut products exports in December (ranked 11th-17th) namely Coco Milk Powder, Coco Meat Chips, Dried Mature Coconut Meat, Nata de Coco, Coconut Peat/Dust, Makapuno, and Coconut Flour.


COCONUT MILK POWDER generated USD511,197 in December from orders of 96 MT.  Volume pruned markedly by 93.7% same time year-earlier total at 1,530 MT. Key markets were Japan at 26 MT (26.7%), Mexico at 23 MT (24.0%), and the USA at 20 MT (20.7%).  Smaller loads went to Australia at 13 MT (13.4%), South Korea at 12 MT (12.7%), and three others which took in 1 MT or lower namely Saudi Arabia, Palau, Hong Kong. 


COCO MEAT CHIPS had turnover of USD475,263 from shipment of 144 MT, reducing by 32.2% the prior year data at 212 MT. The USA was market leader responsible for nearly three-fourths (72.8%) of total sales or 144 MT.  The remainder was shared by Vietnam with volume at 26 MT (17.8%), South Korea at 13 MT (8.9%) and Japan at 0.6 MT (0.4%). 


DRIED MATURE COCONUT MEAT (in chips, ground, grated or sliced) other than desiccated coconut had revenue of USD419,358 after trading 885 MT (no export last year). China took in bulk of the shipment at 838 MT (94.7%) and a residual 47 MT (5.3%) went to South Korea. 
NATA DE COCO earned USD402,583 from deliveries of 378 MT, a huge improvement by 74.1% from 217 MT previously.  Japan remained a top importer with uptake at 195 MT (51.6%), followed by Canada at 89 MT (23.5%), USA at 51 MT (13.4%), and six others which took in smaller orders namely Hong Kong 13 MT, United Kingdom 11 MT, New Zealand 8 MT, Australia 6 MT, Netherlands 4 MT and United Arab Emirates 0.9 MT.  


International trade of COCO PEAT/DUST of 4,032 MT contracted by 12.3% from last year at 4,599 MT but turned in USD238,025. China was the exclusive destination during the month.  


  MAKAPUNO export at 101 MT registered proceeds of USD213,070.  Traded volume leaped radically by 628.1% from merely 14 MT in the preceding year.  The product was mainly shipped to North America, its key destinations, with Canada cornering 38 MT or 37.9% and the USA at 27 MT or 26.4%.  Other destinations were United Kingdom at 15 MT (14.9%), and seven others which ordered smaller quantities ranging 0.25-6 MT namely United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Netherlands, Singapore, Lebanon.


COCO FLOUR reported income of USD120,888.  Total volume sold at 139 MT was an impressive growth by 61.6% from 86 MT of the preceding year.  The USA and Indonesia imported equal volume at 38 MT apiece (27.5% and 27.3% shares respectively), trailed by South Korea at 23 MT (16.6%), Australia at 17 MT (12.5%), United Kingdom at 13 MT (9.5%), and Brazil at 9 MT (6.6%).
