External trade of coco shell charcoal reached 8,167 MT in June and was valued USD4.317 million.  Bulk of the shipment went to China at 6,785 MT (83.1%).  Other importers were Japan at 898 MT, Turkey 325 MT and South Korea 160 MT, at respective market shares of 11.0%, 4.0% and 2.0%.

On the other hand, export of value-added product activated carbon totaled 5,710 MT in the same month with earnings of USD8.974 million.  Its markets are more varied than coco shell charcoal, numbering 27 which was led by Japan at 1,176 MT (20.6%).  This was followed by seven countries whose combined market share was 65.0% namely, China 759 MT, Taiwan 692 MT, Germany 540 MT, USA 533 MT, South Korea 458 MT, Indonesia 393 MT, Netherlands 339 MT.

Meanwhile, 19 other countries bought volume below 100 MT (7-90 MT) and jointly contributed 14.4%, namely Australia, Congo, Vietnam, Peru, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Estonia, Canada, Turkey, Belgium, France, Italy, Finland, South Africa, Spain, Israel, Honduras, Ivory Coast, Singapore.

Overseas purchases of coconut shell charcoal in May reached 10,443 MT with proceeds of USD5.962 million.  China was principal buyer capturing more than three-fourths (79.6%) of total shipment or 8,318 MT, trailed by Japan at 1,551 MT (14.8%).  Smaller volumes went to South Korea at 282 MT (2.7%), Turkey at 270 MT (2.6%) and Hong Kong at 23 MT.
On the other hand, its value-added product activated carbon sold 6,139 MT costing USD10.411 million in the same month. It also served a bigger market numbering 25 and with Japan leading the pack at 1,094 MT (17.8%).  This was followed by the USA at 934 MT (15.2%), Germany at 746 MT (12.2%), China at 616 MT (10.0%), Taiwan at 540 MT (8.8%).
The next set of importing countries took in volume ranging 122-454 MT and comprised 25.4% of the market namely, South Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Peru, Italy.  Much smaller loads were handled by 14 other countries ranging 13-98 MT which together shared 10.6% such as France, South Africa, Vietnam, Spain, Turkey, Finland, Australia, Singapore, India, Canada, Honduras, New Zealand, Mexico, United Kingdom.

Shipment of coco shell charcoal in November stood at 9,010 MT with proceeds amounting to USD5.446 million.  This went principally to China with uptake at 7,050 MT or over three-fourths (78.2%) of aggregate.  Japan also took in substantial volume at 1,081 MT (12.0%).  Limited orders were made by Turkey at 343 MT, South Korea 313 MT, India 125 MT, Iraq 49 MT and Jordan 49 MT.

Activated carbon, its high-value product, sold 4,963 MT in overseas market worth USD9.327 million.  Market leader in this sector was Japan at 1,120 MT (22.6%), trailed by Germany at 967 MT (19.5%), the US 951 MT (19.2%), and South Korea which completes the top four buyers at 549 MT (11.1%).

Five countries bought lower than 500 MT (133-314 MT range) namely Indonesia, China, Canada, Peru, Taiwan and were collectively responsible for 21.1%.  On the other hand, nine countries with purchases lower than 100 MT (21-68 MT range) together comprised 6.7% of the market.  This included Ivory Coast, Vietnam, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom, Greece, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong.
