Performance of Philippine Top Non-Traditional Coconut Products Exports in August (Part 2)
Thursday, December 8, 2022Following are some details about the remaining six leading non-traditional exports (ranked 11th-16th). These products turned in between USD102,000 and USD500,000 in export receipts.
BIODIESEL shipment generated USD479,646 in export revenue in August from sale of 237 MT (there was no export in August last year). This went to South Korea and Japan. The former ordered 120 MT (50.6%) and Japan held 117 MT (49.4%).
Delivery of COCONUT ACID OILS at 168 MT was valued USD417,390. Current volume contracted sharply from last year at 734 MT (-77.3%). Bulk of delivery went to Indonesia at 119 MT (71.3%) and the remainder at 48 MT (28.7%) went to Spain.
Export of COCO PEAT/DUST earned USD393,501 from volume of 7,869 MT which was 23.0% behind last year at 10,222 MT. China was almost an exclusive destination responsible for 7,793 MT (99.0%). The remaining loads went to Taiwan 53 MT and Japan 23 MT.
NATA DE COCO reported turnover of USD298,973 from delivery of 295 MT. Tonnage shrank 42.4% from 513 MT last year. Japan remained a leading market cornering 160 MT (54.3%). Other major destinations were the US at 30 MT (10.2%), China 28 MT (9.5%), Canada 22 MT (7.4%), South Korea 18 MT (6.2%), Australia 14 MT (4.9%). Eight other countries collectively bought 22 MT (7.5%).
External trade of COIR PRODUCTS registered income of USD163,596. Like in coco peat/dust, China was almost a sole importer of coir products after securing 934 MT or 98.3% of the pack. Japan took in the balance at 17 MT.
COCONUT FLOUR export earnings totaled USD102,856 from purchases of 108 MT. This is a steep reduction by 65.7% from last year at 315 MT. Top buyer was the US at 46 MT (42.6%), trailed by Indonesia at 15 MT (13.4%), Germany 13 MT (12.2%), Brazil and New Zealand at 12 MT apiece (11.2%) and three others with total uptake of 10 MT (9.4%).
