Export of World Leading Desiccated Coconut Producers Slightly Down in August

Collated country data from the Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka published in Cocommunity showed the combined desiccated coconut export of these leading desiccated producing countries as of August reached 210,386 MT, mildly lower by 1.8% from a similar 8-month period year-earlier at 214,269 MT.  The shortfall was exclusively on account of reduced shipment from Indonesia. 

The Philippines was responsible for more than half (51.6%) of the total with shipment of 108,654 MT.  This volume rose 6.9% from 101,654 MT last year.  Export from Indonesia at 73,445 MT accounted for over one-third (34.9%). Tonnage fell 19.1% from prior year at 90,803 MT.  Sri Lanka contributed 13.4% or 28,287 MT, a sharp increase by 29.7% from 21,812 MT a year ago.
