Philippine Export of Coconut Products Up in October 2021

Official figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority show the Philippines exported in October 183,796 MT of coconut products expressed in copra terms, a leap by 48.8% from 123,517 MT in a similar month year-earlier.  The figure is the highest recorded so far in a month during the year.  Gross export receipts at USD229.933 million likewise leaped 58.7% from USD144.908 million driven by higher volume and traded prices.
All major export products sharply increased shipment compared to previous year.  Coconut oil posted the biggest growth with a 58.0% spike at 93,101 MT from 58,911 MT and registered the highest monthly total during the 10-month period to October this year.  Export of desiccated coconut climbed 22.4% at 16,118 MT from 13,170 MT, similarly the highest monthly figure logged in the same period. Shipment of copra meal at 20,787 MT rose 13.7% from 18,920 MT and oleochemicals at 11,097 MT as copra hiked 15.0% from 9,646 MT.
Performance of other products is shown following, in MT:  coco shell charcoal 9,390 (+12.9% from 8,313 year-ago), activated carbon 6,030 (-7.3% from 6,506), virgin coconut oil 1,676 (-8.4% from 1,830), coco water 64,188 liters (+10.7% from 57,966 liters), fresh coconuts 54 (+9.1% from 50), Others 21,982 (-35.7% from 34,174).
The cumulative January-October export reached 1,393,660 MT in copra terms, slightly dropping by 3.4% from 1,442,113 MT at the same time year-earlier.  Aggregate revenue shot up 45.3% to hit USD2.000 billion from USD1.376 billion previously.
