Philippine Export of Coconut Products Down in September

Official data from the Philippine Statistics Authority show export of coconut products by the Philippines in September totaled 158,928 MT in copra terms, lower by 5.0% compared to 167,361 MT in the same month year-earlier.  Gross export receipts, however, hiked 38.0% to USD227.310 million from USD164.696 million. 
Export of coconut oil fractionally slipped at 82,648 MT from 83,382 MT (-0.9% year-on-year) while that of by-product copra meal more than doubled at 41,873 MT from 15,840 MT (+164.4%).  Shipment of desiccated coconut climbed 9.1% at 14,920 MT from 13,678 MT while that of oleochemicals slumped 66.3% to 4,673 MT as copra from 13,862 MT.  
Other products performed as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 13,049 (+56.6% from 8,334 last year), activated carbon 6,876 (+0.2% from 6,864), virgin coconut oil 2,357 (-8.6% from 2,580), coco water 206,888 liters (no export), fresh coconut 22 (-85.1% from 150), Others 28,452 (-5.3% from 30,047).
January-September export accumulated to 1,209,864 MT in copra terms, a reduction by 8.2% from 1,318,595 MT at the same time last year. Corresponding revenue leaped 43.8% to USD1.770 billion from USD1.231 billion largely on high border prices.  Breakdown of shipment is as follows, in MT:  coconut oil 594,923 (664,288), copra meal 229,623 (141,085), desiccated coconut 116,575 (112,484), oleochemicals as copra 85,308 (90,262);
Coco shell charcoal 81,872 (62,214), activated carbon 55,601 (59,645), virgin coconut oil 24,484 (19,314), coco water 13.265 million liters (8.447 million liters), fresh coconuts 620 (613), Others 272,793 (230,658).
