Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in August

Export of coconut oil in August was still largely crude coconut oil at 54,483 MT.  Other coconut oil products were cochin (refined, bleached) oil at 12,951 MT and RBD (refined, bleached, and deodorized) oil at 12,677 MT.  The product mix had aggregate turnover of USD123.284 million.

Europe remained leading coconut oil destination responsible for nearly half (47.3%) of total shipment during the month or 37,876 MT, followed by the US at 18,236 MT (22.8%), Indonesia 10,500 MT (13.1%), Malaysia 5,351 MT (6.7%), China 3,483 MT (4.3%), Japan 2,302 MT (2.9%), Sri Lanka 1,681 MT (2.1%); the rest had market shares below 1%.  
 
Europe import was largely crude coconut oil at 33,983 MT (Netherlands 25,733, Italy 6,000, Spain 2,250).  Other markets were Indonesia at 10,500 MT, Malaysia and the US at 5,000 MT apiece.  The US led in cochin oil purchases at 10,676 MT, trailed by Japan at 2,200 MT and Canada at 76 MT.

RBD coconut oil had the most diversified market. Except for Europe, the US, Malaysia and Japan, buyers exclusively ordered RBD coconut oil. During the month, Europe took the lead with delivery of 3,893 MT (Netherlands 1,647, Greece 2,000, Belgium 96, United Kingdom 84, Poland 23, Bulgaria 22, Germany 19).  Following behind were China 3,483 MT, the US 2,561 MT, Sri Lanka 1,681 MT, Malaysia 351 MT, Taiwan 175 MT, South Africa 155 MT, Japan 102 MT, Iran 83 MT, Ecuador 74 MT and, seven others with orders ranging 2-36 MT, namely, Australia, Argentina, Turkey, Brazil, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Israel.
