Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in September
Thursday, December 12, 2019Export of coconut oil in September still largely comprised of crude coconut oil at 50,471 MT, followed by cochin (refined, bleached) oil at 17,898 MT and RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized) oil at 6,757 MT, the combined value of which was USD50.620 million. Europe remained a top destination responsible for nearly half of total trade (46.7%) with uptake at 35,076 MT of all oil types, with the US still second with 25,723 MT (34.2%). Trailing behind were Malaysia with 6,000 MT (8.0%), Indonesia 3,001 MT (4.0%), Japan 2,300 MT (3.1%), China 2,237 MT (3.0%), and nine others with respective market shares below 1%.
Europe and the US remained major markets of crude coconut oil with the former taking bulk of the purchases at 31,471 MT (Netherlands 30,471, Germany 1,000) while the US took in 10,000 MT. On the other hand, the US dominated the cochin oil trade with delivery of 15,354 MT, trailed by Japan with 2,300 MT, India 222 MT and Europe 22 MT (Netherlands).
There were a dozen importers of RBD coconut oil during the month under the lead of Europe with 3,582 MT (Netherlands 3,578, France 5), trailed by China with 2,237 MT, US 369 MT, Iran 208 MT, Canada 180 MT, Taiwan 68 MT, Pakistan 54 MT, Singapore 32 MT, New Zealand 20 MT, Australia 4 MT, Indonesia and India at 1 MT apiece.
