U.S. Import of Lauric Oils Down in January

Data from Oil World show the U.S. imported 59,800 MT of lauric oils in January, a plunge by 46.2% from January year-ago at 111,200 MT with coconut oil largely contributing to the drop. Coconut oil accounted for 52.8% of lauric oil total with 31,600 MT (73,300 MT year-ago), while palm kernel oil comprised the remaining 47.2% with 28,200 MT (37,900 MT).

Indonesia was top supplier of lauric oil to the U.S. during the month with shipment of 28,700 MT (59,400 MT), of which 20,500 MT (33,700 MT) was palm kernel oil and 8,200 MT (25,700 MT) was coconut oil, the equivalent of 48.0% of lauric oil total. The Philippines contributed 25.6% at 15,300 MT (46,600 MT) of coconut oil only. Malaysia shared 24.6% at 14,700 MT (3,700 MT), of  which 7,500 MT (3,500 MT) was palm kernel oil and 7,200 MT (200 MT) was coconut oil. Deliveries from other countries totaled 900 MT (1,500 MT) of which 800 MT (800 MT) was coconut oil and 100 MT (700 MT) was palm kernel oil.
