Canadian Canola Farmers Face Record High Unsold Surplus

As trade tensions with China negatively affect shipments, Canada’s canola farmers will carry over an ‘all time record high’ volume of unsold canola into next season, breaking a record set five years ago.  As of March 31, the country’s canola stocks increased by 10.5 percent over a year before, and Statistics Canada forecasted that by the end of the season on July 31, farmers will likely be left with 3.5 million tons of canola moving into the next season, surpasssing the previous carry-over record of 3.1 million tons set in 2014.
