Coconut Coalition of the Americas Elects Officers

The Coconut Coalition of the Americas (CCA) recently elected its officers last week at a gathering in Anaheim, California. Elected officers were: John Slate - Co-President; David Eben - Co-president; Debbie Shandel - Marketing; Kelly Shone - Technical; Paul Andersen - Treasurer.  Congratulations to the officers and members of CCA!
CCA has been formally registered in Washington DC as the lobbying group of distributors and maketers of coconut oil and coconut products in the United States.  The Co-presidents called on the industy to come together to lobby for the coconut industry to protect the product categories affected by negative press stemming from the American Heart Association advisory in 2017.  
The United Coconut Associations of the Philippines (UCAP) represented by its chairman, Dean (Jun) Lao, Jr. offered to assist in terms of sharing facts and statistics that will help the lobbying and marketing thrusts of CCA.  UCAP will also draw on its affiliation with the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) to assist in the lobbying efforts.  Mr. Lao also invited CCA member to come to Manila to attend the 1st World Coconut Congress on August 14-16 this year.
